This weekend we had a Bright Bike workshop at Eyebeam. We wrapped about 15 bikes, and an additional 20 people took home materials to wrap their bikes at home based on the Bright Bike Instructable. It ended with a short critically-visible-mass ride around Chelsea.
Smashing success.

The Bright Bike is a retroreflective vinyl wrapped bicycle. We used Scotchlight 680 vinyl. The Takeovers and Makeovers conference was a hit. I had a superb time speaking with Fred Von Lohmann and Jason Schultz. I made everyone laugh, and swore more than Tom McDonough, which is apparently no small feat.

Scotchliting My Bike

Patrick Davison and I went to Ethan Benton’s studio last week. We talked about bikes, looked at fabric, made plans to do some retroreflective powdercoating tests, and he gave me two little scraps of 3M Scotchlite Removable Graphic Film with Comply. This is the material he is using to make the ELVS co-branded Velocity deep-V’s.
