No Longer Empty in the Wall Street Journal

Making Lemonade Manon Slome, the former curator of the Chelsea Art Museum in Manhattan, has come up with a creative solution for the city's mounting number of empty storefronts: turn them into sidewalk showrooms. Her first "No Longer Empty" show opens Thursday in two formerly vacant storefronts at Hotel Chelsea that had been occupied by Capitol Fishing Tackle and Chelsea Healing, a natural healing service. Works by 21 painters, photographers and other artists will be on display in the space, which is being provided free of charge. Ms. Slome, who says her idea was inspired by a spring walk past empty shops on Madison Avenue, is planning shows in three other locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. —David Graham Printed in The Wall Street Journal, page C6
